Independent Multimedia
As a music artist I want to share my vision with other people. In 2016 the easiest way to do that is on the internet. A key aspect of musicianship is presentability. A music artist should make sure they are being represented to their potential. In order to present myself to my potential I have to give people access to quality media. As an up and coming producer I have to organize everything myself and make it look professional.
In high school I created my first demos in my grandma's basement. They were rough, raw, and inspired the ideas behind what I am working on presently to this day. Fortunately I have been able to share my music with people online for free thanks to aggregators such as SoundCloud, Reverbnation, and Bandcamp. I also handmade and sold copies of my demos to friends and families. At this stage in my career it's useful to get feedback on my ideas and have an outlet into the larger world of music. Here is a link to a song I recently produced in my studio production class.
Shooting videos has always been a favorite form of art for me. I have been uploading videos to Youtube since age 11. I enjoy making music videos to go along with songs I have made. I also enjoy capturing live performances. Last year in 2015 some friends and I organized a show at a local coffee shop and I video recorded the whole show. Here is a video of my sister Olivia Alaniz performing.
Having presentability in the music world is pivotal. That is why last year in 2015 I hired a co-worker of mine to take my photographs. She is a photography major and I think the shots she took turned out very nice. Here is a photo from that photo shoot.
In 2016, a sure fire way of getting your name out there is through social media. I have Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts as alternate ways of getting my words out to people. Here is a widget showing feed on my Twitter page. Follow me and you will hear about what's going on in my life in real time.
In conclusion, creating music is not the only thing a music artist is responsible for. In the early days it's important to look good, sound good, and be easy for people to find. The more you craft your style the more you can create endless varieties of art. Having a hub to share work with people will get your message across to people, and the more different types of media you use the larger your reach is.
